We are looking for three individuals to promote memberships onsite to the Aquarium's visitors during our busy summer season. Speaking knowledgeably about our membership program and encouraging individuals to sign up for a membership will be the key focus for these roles. The ability to interact professionally and be welcoming to everyone in large group settings is required.

New England Aquarium has implemented comprehensive safety protocols for employees and visitors to minimize the risk of COVID-19 exposure. As a member of our team, you will be provided with the training and resources needed to ensure a safe and rewarding experience. In addition, the Aquarium requires all staff to be vaccinated and boosted (when eligible) against COVID-19 unless a reasonable medical or religious accommodation is requested and approved.

This is a full-time seasonal position, working 9a - 4:30p, five days a week from June to August. Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday schedules are available. Work must be completed on site.


  • Promotes and articulates the full scope of membership program and benefits to visitors on-site at the New England Aquarium.
  • Processes cash, credit card, and check transactions and respects the confidentiality of said transactions.
  • Keeps accurate sales records and performs accurate accounting.
  • Provides general information about the institution and answers questions from visitors and members in person and via email and phone inquiries.
  • Assists with gift entry and processing during peak periods.
  • Performs other position-related duties, as assigned.


Minimum Training and Experience

  • Requires high school diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Prior experience with cash, check, and credit card transactions required.
  • Experience in sales, marketing, or customer service strongly preferred.
  • Experience with POS software or database experience desirable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate calmly, effectively, and professionally while under pressure.
  • Comfortable with interacting in-person with individuals and small groups; comfortable being around large crowds.
  • Maintain an energetic, friendly, positive, and welcoming demeanor with all individuals, including adults and children.
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy environment.
  • Must be exceptionally detail-oriented.
  • Ability to consistently work during summer months (June to August), including weekends.
  • Adaptability in working outside or during inconstant climates including heat, wind, etc.
