The New England Aquarium is looking for a Painter to maintain all exterior and interior surfaces throughout the Aquarium complex, as well as the Animal Care Center located in Quincy, MA. This position is part of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 32BJ, District 615.

New England Aquarium has implemented comprehensive safety protocols for employees and visitors to minimize the risk of COVID-19 exposure. As a member of our team, you will be provided with the training and resources needed to ensure a safe and rewarding experience. In addition, the Aquarium requires all staff to be vaccinated and boosted (when eligible) against COVID-19 unless a reasonable medical or religious accommodation is requested and approved.

This is a full-time regular position offering a comprehensive benefits package. The schedule will be Monday-Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintains all exterior and interior surfaces throughout the Aquarium complex in a first-class condition.
  • Mixes and matches all colors to conform to Aquarium standards.
  • Brush or spray paint interior and exterior finishes of buildings, equipment, machinery, etc. after proper surface preparation.
  • Erects own staging or scaffolding when necessary.
  • Requisitions material and equipment required for proper application of coatings.
  • Works with supervisor to establish painting schedule for preventative maintenance purposes.
  • Assists with snow removal operations as required.
  • Assists other trades as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Training and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Valid driver's license is required, and a driving record check will be required before starting the position.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Candidates should also be comfortable working on a ladder, standing for most of the day, and able to bend/stoop, crawl, and kneel.
