New England Aquarium is seeking a full time Electrician to join our Facilities team. This individual will be responsible for maintaining, inspecting, overhauling and repairing all electrical equipment, life support systems, and other related electrical equipment and lighting.

SCHEDULE
Monday - Friday, 40 hours weekly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintains, inspects, overhauls and repairs all electrical equipment, life support systems, and all other related electrical equipment and lighting, while maintaining comprehensive preventative maintenance program on electrical systems.
  • Reviews specifications on electrical equipment with management and makes selections for replacement when necessary.
  • Lays out projects, prepares materials list and completes installations or repairs when assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
  • Assists during snow removal operations when required.
  • Interprets blue prints and manufacturers' manuals.
  • Assists other trades when required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Training and Experience

High school diploma/GED required with specialized training in the electrical trade and 3 years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Journeyman Electrician's License issued by the State of Massachusetts
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills for electrical installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to work well on a team.
  • Massachusetts's drivers' license is required.
  • Experience in a maintenance field is desired.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and controls.

The employee will be required to review non-written materials for general observation purposes.  Occasionally the employee will be required to review non-written materials for analytical, detailed purposes.  It is necessary for the employee to differentiate between colors.

Routinely work is performed within a typical office setting or outside, exposed to variations in the weather.  Occasionally work is performed in confined, cramped quarters, on a marine vessel or inside, in extreme heat or extreme cold.
